Archbishop Kivuva calls for love, peace, unity during Christmas

MOMBASA, Kenya-Dec 25, 2025-The Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa Bishop, Most Rev. Martin Kivuva, has urged Christians and all people of goodwill to embrace love, peace, and unity during this Christmas season, drawing inspiration from the life and message of Jesus Christ.

Addressing the media at his Nyali residence in Mombasa, Archbishop Kivuva reminded the faithful that Christmas is not merely a commemoration of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, but a call for Christ to be born anew in believers’ hearts.

“As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, we must also allow Him to be born in our hearts,” Archbishop Kivuva said. “This means embracing love, forgiveness, humility, and compassion in our daily lives, just as Christ taught us.”

The Archbishop emphasized that the festive season should be a time of reconciliation, encouraging families, communities, and the nation at large to choose peace over conflict and understanding over division.

He noted that love remains the greatest gift of Christmas, pointing out that Christ came into the world as a sign of God’s unconditional love for humanity. Believers, he said, are called to reflect that same love through acts of kindness, generosity, and care for the vulnerable-especially the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.

Archbishop Kivuva also urged responsible celebrations, reminding citizens to maintain peace and harmony throughout the festive period. He encouraged Kenyans to pray for the nation and to work together in building a society founded on justice, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.

“As we rejoice in this holy season, let us remember that true Christmas is lived through love in action,” he added. “When Christ is born in our hearts, our families, our communities, and our nation are transformed.”

The Archbishop concluded by wishing all Kenyans a blessed Christmas and a peaceful New Year, filled with hope and renewed faith.
