MOMBASA, Kenya, Dec 19, 2025- The two remaining members of the Mombasa County Executive Committee were sworn in Friday morning, completing the governor’s cabinet after weeks of pressure from activists to finalize the appointments.
The ceremony followed a special sitting of the County Assembly held on Thursday, December 18, where the assembly considered and approved the nominees.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, presided over the swearing-in at the county offices, with Resident Magistrate Joan Wangechi administering the oath of office in accordance with the law.
Ibrahim Khamis Mutwafy was sworn in as the Blue Economy, Co-operatives, Agriculture and Livestock County Executive Committee Member, while Jonathan Wepukhulu assumed the docket of Public Service Administration, Youth, Gender and Sports.
Their appointments mark the formal assumption of office and strengthen the leadership of the county executive at a critical time for service delivery and programme implementation.
County officials said the new executives are expected to accelerate progress in key priority sectors including the blue economy, agriculture, co-operatives, youth empowerment, public service administration, gender, and sports.
The governor’s office reiterated its commitment to effective governance, accountable leadership, and the timely delivery of services to Mombasa residents.
