KILIFI County—Jan 19, 2026—Kilifi County’s tourism sector has received a boost following the arrival of tourists from Poland, with stakeholders describing the development as part of a strategy to tap into new international markets.
Tourism players in the coastal county say the emerging Polish market has led to increased activity in hotels, restaurants and other tourism-related businesses, helping to strengthen the sector.
Dominic Kenee, Gedeng Guest Camp Chairperson located in the Sabaki River area, said the arrival of tourists from Poland has contributed significantly to the growth of tourism in the region.
Kenee revealed that a second group of Polish tourists is expected later this month and will tour various attractions across the county, including Marafa, Mambrui, Vasco da Gama Pillar, as well as beaches along the Indian Ocean in Watamu and Malindi.
Local residents have welcomed the growth in tourism, particularly the influx of visitors from Poland, saying the sector is a key source of livelihood and they hope the new market will help improve their economic well-being.
