KWALE County—Jan 30, 2026—Monda Mdzomba Jego, a promising student who scored 58 marks at Gandini Primary School in Kinango Ward, Kwale County, and who was selected to join Kwale Boys’ National School the young scholar now faces the real risk of missing the opportunity due to the inability to pay school fees.
Speaking to journalists, Monda shared that his dream of becoming a doctor could be cut short if he does not receive financial support.
He revealed that his family lives in severe economic hardship, with his father relying on occasional casual work just to provide basic meals.
Monda appealed to philanthropists, education stakeholders, and well-wishers to support him, emphasizing that continued education is crucial for achieving his ambitions.
This story highlights the persistent challenges that talented students in Kenya face when transitioning from primary to secondary education, particularly those from low-income households. While academic merit can open doors to national schools, financial barriers continue to deny many students the chance to realise their potential.
