KWALE County — Feb 4, 2026—As part of the ongoing NAVCDP–FSRP Joint Review Meeting, Council of Governors (CoG) Agriculture Committee Chairperson and Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, on Wednesday led a team of national and county agriculture leaders on a strategic field visit to Kinondo Community SACCO in Kwale County.
The visit aimed to assess progress in farmer aggregation, cooperative governance, and access to affordable credit linked to priority value chains, bridging national policy discussions with tangible on-the-ground outcomes.
Community SACCOs remain pivotal in empowering smallholder farmers, enabling them to access financing, improve productivity, and participate competitively in local and regional markets.
Kinondo SACCO has been at the forefront in supporting farmers in Kwale, demonstrating how locally-driven financial solutions can drive economic growth.
Speaking during the visit, Lusaka highlighted the importance of translating policy into action, noting that well-governed SACCOs are central to Kenya’s broader agricultural agenda, particularly in enhancing financial inclusion and promoting value chain development.
“Connecting county priorities with national strategies ensures that farmers are not left behind. Institutions like Kinondo SACCO are vital in making agricultural policies work on the ground,” he said.
The NAVCDP–FSRP Joint Review Meeting, running this week, seeks to align county-level interventions with national objectives, focusing on improving productivity, ensuring food security, and fostering sustainable agribusiness growth across Kenya.
