Duncan Kivuitu retains Minet Golf Tournament title

NAIROBI, Kenya- Jan 11, 2026-Duncan Kivuitu successfully defended his title at the Minet Golf Tournament after carding an impressive 46 stableford points to emerge overall winner at Karen Country Club.
Playing off a handicap of 18, Kivuitu improved on his winning score of 43 points from last year, edging out a competitive field in a tightly contested tournament.

Speaking after his victory, Kivuitu attributed his back-to-back triumph to improved performance on the greens despite challenging scarified surfaces.

“Defending this title at Karen Country Club is an incredible feeling, especially seeing the improvement in my game from last year,” he said, adding that precise chipping and manageable putts made the difference.

The men’s category produced close results, with Alex Gachanja finishing just one point behind the overall winner after posting 45 stableford points. Eric Kinuthia followed in second place with 42 points, while Renato De’Souza claimed third with 40 points.

In the ladies’ category, Muthaiga Golf Club’s Mary Mbataru claimed the Lady Winner prize with 40 stableford points, ahead of Faith Macharia, who finished second on 38 points.

The Industry Winner title went to Felix Ochieng’ with 40 stableford points, narrowly beating Anthony Kiragu, who returned 39 points. Minet staff member Joe Onsando won the Staff Prize after scoring 44 stableford points.

The Guest Prize was decided on a countback, with Ken Mwangi edging out Raj Shah after both finished on 40 stableford points.

Additional honours were awarded for performance across the nines, with Tobias Gitonga claiming the First Nine prize with 25 stableford points and Tony Njuguna taking the Second Nine prize with 22 points.

Minet Kenya Chief Executive Officer Sammy Muthui praised the high level of competition and sportsmanship witnessed during the tournament, noting that Kivuitu’s consecutive victories underscored his growing stature in the local golfing scene.
