MOMBASA, Kenya-Dec 28, 2025- Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General (SG) Yassir Noor has dismissed claims by National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohammed that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is secretly undermining the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Junet had alleged that Uhuru was using party officials, including ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and Deputy Party Leader Godfrey Osotsi to destabilise the party through financial influence.
Noor called the allegations “pure nonsense,” urging Junet to stop dragging Uhuru’s name into what he described as “schemes” for personal gain.
“ODM is more disorganised after Raila Odinga’s death. There is a leadership vacuum. The party should focus on putting its house in order rather than using the retired President’s name. ”Do not use former President Uhuru to chase money from President William Ruto,” Noor said.
Political analysts say the exchange underscores growing tensions between Jubilee and ODM ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Uhuru, who has largely stayed out of active politics since leaving office, has occasionally been accused by rivals of covertly influencing party politics, though he has consistently denied such claims.
ODM, long led by Raila Odinga, is still navigating a leadership transition following his passing, with party hierarchy under scrutiny as members position themselves ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
Junet’s claims reflect internal anxieties within the opposition as they seek cohesion in the face of Jubilee’s consolidation under President William Ruto.
