KIHARU Constituency, Murang’a – Jan 13, 2026- Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro on Tuesday announced a dramatic reduction in school fees for all senior day secondary schools in the constituency, bringing the cost down to just Ksh 500 per term.
The move forms part of the newly launched Kiharu Masomo Bora 2026 programme, which will benefit over 12,000 learners and provide daily meals, free uniforms, and improved learning facilities across all 65 Day Secondary Schools in the constituency.
The programme reduces school fees for senior day schools to Ksh 500 per term, provides daily meals for students including Githeri, rice, porridge, and chapati on the last Friday of each month, and offers free uniforms for Grade 10 learners in new and low-enrolment schools. In addition, Ksh 10 million has been allocated for revision materials and more than Ksh 50 million for school infrastructure, with a focus on laboratories.
Schools are further supported with an extra Ksh 50,000 to fund co-curricular activities, while Ksh 900,000 is earmarked for prize-giving celebrations. The programme also rewards excellence among teachers and principals: best-performing teachers receive fully paid trips to Mombasa, while top principals travel to Dubai or Malaysia.
Beyond education, Ndindi Nyoro’s tenure has seen major investments in infrastructure and social services across Kiharu. Roads have been upgraded, water projects expanded, and public utilities improved, significantly boosting local commerce and accessibility.
His constituency development fund (NG-CDF) has funded community projects in health, sports, and vocational training, creating employment opportunities and improving livelihoods.
Nyoro emphasized that his programmes aim at inclusive development, covering all learners and community members irrespective of background. “Our goal is to provide equal access to education, enhance learning environments, and improve the quality of life for every Kiharu resident,” he said.
The MP’s initiatives have been widely welcomed by parents, teachers, and community leaders, who note the sustained impact on education standards, school enrolment, and overall community development in the constituency.
