KILIFI County—Jan 22, 2026—The government is investing more than Sh.2.2 billion in Kilifi County under the Last Mile Connectivity Project to expand electricity access to rural communities.
Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira flagged off the Sh.11 million Dabaso electrification project in Kilifi North Sub-County, saying the initiative will transform livelihoods and spur economic growth.
Wachira said the Dabaso project will connect over 3,200 households to the national power grid, improving living standards and enhancing security in the area.
He added that Kilifi North Constituency has so far received more than Sh.300 million under the last mile programme, benefiting over 23,000 households across Kilifi County.
Residents welcomed the project, saying access to electricity will boost small businesses, create employment opportunities, and improve security through better lighting.
The Last Mile Connectivity Project is part of the government’s broader agenda to achieve universal electricity access and accelerate rural development.
