NAIROBI, Kenya—Jan 31, 2026—NCBA has pledged Ksh 300,000 to support Kenyan Masters swimmers competing at the South Africa National Masters Swimming Championship in George this March.
The funding will cover essential needs, including team kits and travel logistics, ensuring the athletes are fully prepared for the continental competition.
The sponsorship was unveiled during a joint training session on Friday, January 30, at Crawford International School, where the team focused on refining techniques, building endurance, and strengthening cohesion ahead of the championships.
“The decision to support the swimmers reflects NCBA’s commitment to wellness, healthy living, and community development,” said Nelly Wainaina, NCBA Group Director of Marketing, Communication & Citizenship. “Masters swimming exemplifies sport as a lifelong lifestyle—athletes continue to push themselves, stay fit, and inspire younger generations long after their competitive youth years.”
Kenya Aquatics Technical Director Omar Omari lauded the sponsorship, noting the steady growth of Masters swimming in Kenya thanks to dedicated athletes and stakeholders.
“We are grateful to NCBA for stepping in at a crucial moment and urge more corporate partners to support swimming, a sport that cultivates discipline and goal-driven communities,” he said.
Kenya Masters Team Captain Peter Nduati described the support as a major boost for the athletes during a critical stage of preparation.
“The funding ensures our team is fully equipped and ready to compete with confidence,” Nduati said, also thanking Kenya Aquatics for its ongoing support of the Masters swimming community.
This marks the second consecutive year NCBA has backed Kenyan Masters swimmers, following their sponsorship of the team at last year’s World Aquatics Masters Swimming Championship in Singapore.
