MOMBASA County—Jan 30, 2026—Nyali’s 2027 parliamentary aspirant, Elkana Jacob, today hosted Islamic leaders, scholars, and students from all five wards of Nyali to announce the upcoming Islamic Musabaqa, a Qur’anic recitation competition.
Elkana Jacob, a journalist by profession and a security expert, is organising the initiative through the Elkana Jacob Foundation. The competition is scheduled to start on February 7, 2026 across all five wards, culminating in a grand finale on February 28.
The event aims to inspire devotion to the Qur’an, nurture skilled reciters and memorisers, and identify emerging talents for future Islamic leadership.
Organisers also say it will strengthen community values, reinforce moral conduct, and help protect youth from social vices, including drug abuse and gender-based violence.
Additionally, the initiative is intended to foster unity, harmony, and a sense of togetherness within the Muslim community in Nyali, ahead of the 2027 elections.
