MOMBASA County—Feb 4, 2026—Radio Kaya, a Coast-based radio station and the most listened-to regional broadcaster, has entered into a new partnership with international radio service Sauti ya Afrika to air a daily African news bulletin beginning Wednesday February 4.
Under the agreement, Radio Kaya will broadcast a live 30-minute Kiswahili news programme from Idhaa ya Kiswahili – Sauti ya Afrika every day from 7:30pm to 8:00pm East Africa Time, starting today.
Sauti ya Afrika is an international broadcaster that produces and distributes African-focused news, telling Africa’s stories from the continent and for African audiences.
The service delivers in-depth coverage of major developments across East Africa, Central Africa, the Great Lakes region, the Horn of Africa and beyond.
The partnership follows the discontinuation of Radio Kaya’s previous international news programme, which aired during the same time slot and had been sourced through Voice of America (VOA) before the service was shut down.
Most of the presenters at Sauti ya Afrika are experienced journalists who previously worked with VOA, bringing with them extensive expertise in regional and international reporting.
The new bulletin will cover a wide range of topics including politics, information technology, science, the environment, sports and entertainment, health, youth and women’s affairs, as well as entrepreneurship.
Radio Kaya said the partnership is part of its commitment to strengthening news content and ensuring its audience continues to access timely, credible and comprehensive African news, as demand for regional and international coverage continues to grow.
Listeners along the Coast and beyond will now be able to tune in daily to Idhaa ya Kiswahili – Sauti ya Afrika through Radio Kaya from 7:30pm.
