KWALE County—Jan 27, 2026—Two men were killed early Tuesday morning after they were attacked and burned by residents of Chikwakwani village, Kasemeni Ward, in Kinango Constituency, Kwale County, in an incident linked to alleged livestock theft.
According to local reports, the two were suspected of stealing cattle and were intercepted by villagers while in possession of three cows believed to have been stolen.
One of the victims has been identified by family members as Mwaduka Munga, a resident of Gura village in Kasemeni Ward. The second victim was only identified as Charo, with his second name yet to be established.
Witnesses said the two men were unable to provide proof of ownership of the livestock when confronted by residents, triggering anger among members of the community. The situation quickly escalated, with some residents taking the law into their own hands, leading to the fatal attack.
Police are investigating the incident as authorities continue to warn against mob justice, urging the public to report suspected criminal activity to law enforcement agencies.
